Me and my boy…

February 7th, 2008 by Donnie

It was 80 degrees yesterday and I was able to go home for lunch, so Connor and I laid in the hammock for a few minutes and Victoria snapped a few pictures of us. Here is a good one. Check the picture gallery (link is on the right) for additional pictures.

I look so forward to spending more time with Connor outside during the spring and summer, just swinging in the hammock. Victoria went for a walk on Tuesday and Wednesday with Connor — it was beautiful both of those days.

Future ODU football fan…

February 7th, 2008 by Donnie

I bought “family season tickets” for ODU’s first football season in 2009.  Connor will be 1.5 years old by then and the three of us will attend as many ODU home games as possible.  We hope to make this a tradition.

Can’t wait until ODU stomps JMU in football like they do in basketball!  (Uncle Danny went to JMU.)

Daddy and Connor exercising…

February 3rd, 2008 by Donnie

Ok, maybe Connor is the one exercising. But, Daddy is hoping he is burning calories as he lays on his back. 😉

Each night, Connor and I have play time before bed. I lay on my back and put him on my lower stomach. I position my hands behind his feet and he slows pushes off and moves up the my neck. He usually buries his head in my neck and starts to make grunts and little screams.

In this example, he only made it half way and then kind of just posed for the camera.

Our first walk…

February 3rd, 2008 by Donnie

After our doctor appointment on Friday, we were able to take a walk around the block with Connor.  It was pretty warm on Friday (62 degrees), so we decided to take a quick walk.  Here is a pic of Mommy and Connor going on our first walk.  More pics have been posted to the picture gallery.

2 week checkup

February 3rd, 2008 by Donnie

Connor had his 2 week checkup on Friday.  Mommy, Daddy, and the doctor were thrilled to see how good he was doing.

Connor is now:

6 lbs 10 oz

19 3/4″

Victoria and Connor are doing a great job breastfeeding and the doctor pointed out a blister that had formed on Connor’s upper lip (in the middle).  The doctor says this is because he has such a good latch and him and Victoria are working well together.  Keep up the good work!

We had been waking Connor every 3.5 hrs at night to give him a feeding but sometimes he would go longer (4.5-5 hrs).  He feeds every 2 to 3 hours during the day but slows it down once he is put in his crib.  The doctor said that it is fine to let him wake us for his night feeding(s) but not to let it go longer than 6 hours.  So, I set the alarm for about 5 hours and see how it goes.

So far, Connor sleeps pretty well.  Sometimes it takes a little longer to put him to bed but he is usually a pretty good sleeper (for now).  We put him in the crib around 10:30pm and then wake him at 2:30am for a feeding (5 hrs after the last feeding).  After that feeding, he falls back to sleep right away.  Then Victoria wakes him again around 7am for his morning feeding.  This schedule has been working great for us and him.
