Connor’s favorite “blanket(s)”

November 30th, 2008 by Donnie

I’ve been meaning to write about this for nearly 8 months now, but with the day to day activities and other amazing things Connor does I forget the most obvious things.

Around 3 months old, Grandma learned that Connor’s crying spell could be “lessened” if he was given his burb cloth.  Now this burb cloth is actually just a cloth diaper that we used as a burb cloth.  We bought probably about 15 of these burb cloths, so we would always have one during feedings and spit ups.

Once Grandma had mentioned that it was soothing to him, we started to use it to put him to sleep.  We usually drape it over our shoulder (like when you go to burb and infant) and Connor will lay his head against it and begin to relax.  You’ve heard of Linus’ blanket (Charlie Brown fame)…well we have Connor’s blankets.  He doesn’t carry it around with him or anything like that, but he does take naps and go to bed with it and loves to have it tucked between his shoulder and cheek.

We think it probably reminds him of his early breast feedings with Mommy and then Daddy burbing him.  Probably some of the most relaxing (and fulfilling) times of his life.

Thank goodness we have about 15 of them…that way Mommy can keep them clean without Connor getting upset and there is no chance that Connor (or us) can lose all 15!!!

Breakfast with Connor

November 30th, 2008 by Donnie

As I have written a few times before, Sunday morning breakfast was a traditional for Victoria and I before we became Mommy and Daddy.

We have continued to have that enjoyable time as much as we can.   Over the the past 10 months, we have introduced Connor to our tradition.  Now on Sundays, we have it down to an enjoyable routine…

  1. Mommy prepares Connor’s food.
  2. Daddy feeds the cats.
  3. Mommy feeds Connor.
  4. Daddy cooks breakfast.
  5. Mommy, Connor, and Daddy all sit at the breakfast table and eat together.
  6. Connor now gets Cheerios on his tray table and enjoys feeding himself.
  7. Then we all read the newspaper.  Connor gets a couple sale papers and enjoys playing with them and tearing them to pieces.  (He learned this trick in Florida when he visited Mommy’s Grandma.)

Connor loves Cheerios…

November 29th, 2008 by Donnie

Cheerios have fast become Connor’s favorite snack/food. So much so that we have to make sure we hide the Cheerios container prior to feeding Connor. If he sees it, he will point to it in hopes that he will get some.

You’ll see from some of the photos with Santa, that “he” was trying to bribe Connor with Cheerios.

Hide-n-seek

November 29th, 2008 by Donnie

Connor and I had a round of hide-n-seek tonight that was GREAT!  We must have played hide-n-seek around the couch and the chair in our family room for about 15-20 minutes.

It was great…I would run to one end of the couch and squat down.  Connor would scream and start to crawl around the end of the couch looking for Daddy.  I would then crawl to the other side of the room and hide behind the chair.  Slowly Connor would come around the corner of the couch and see I was hiding.  I would pop my head up slowly a few times…each time I gave him a little more of a glimpse of my head.  Then once he was sure what he was seeing, he let out a “eeeyyaah” and started toward the chair I was hiding behind.

I would sit still and wait until he got real close and then pop out and start screaming with him…”aaahhhh”  He loved it and would start laughing and I would laugh with him.

After 15 minutes of this (back and forth), my knees hurt, my back was sore, and I was TIRED!  Connor of course was still full of energy!!!!

What a fun time tonight!!!!

I love you Connor!

Connor’s 1st Thanksgiving

November 27th, 2008 by Donnie

Today was Connor’s 1st Thanksgiving Day dinner and he had it at Grandma’s house. He had green beans, peas, turkey, mashed potatoes, and a roll. Before I even got the camera rolling, he grabbed his roll and started gnawing on it. I think that was his favorite part of the whole meal — except when he started pounding his mashed potatoes on the table. Daddy and Uncle Danny were like…oh no…don’t do that. We are eating in “The Dining Room” on “The Italian Furniture” — we weren’t even allowed in this room as kids!

Anyways, here are some clips put together with Adam Sandler’s Thanksgiving Day song…

Hope everyone had a safe and happy thanksgiving!

Love,
Donnie

Indiana Connor and the Turkey Thief

November 27th, 2008 by Donnie

Uncle Danny and Daddy grew up during the Indiana Jones era and love those movies. Daddy had a lot of free time on his hand this evening and put together a little movie of me and Uncle Danny (the Turkey Thief) before we ate our Thanksgiving dinner.

Turn up your sound and enjoy!

Love,
Indiana Connor

Santa Claus visited Connor

November 26th, 2008 by Donnie

Mommy took some pictures of Santa Claus and Connor at our house today. Here is a picture from the photo shoot. Connor was not in a photogenic mood today, so there were not too many pictures from the session. We will post more as we have time.
