Victoria and I were looking at our baby pictures, so it sparked a new poll (to the right).

Now vote honestly, because there is no guarantee those pictures are of Victoria or me.  Or maybe it is one of each.  Gotcha wondering now?

And grandparents, no cheating on this one!!!!

Connor has been using his walker for about a month now.  Movement started backwards first.  Then we noticed he would slightly move forward but it was more or less by accident.  Connor has been walking a little more each day.

Today, Victoria told me that he would come to her if she puts him at the end of the hallway and entices him to come to her by saying, “Come here, Connor.  Come on.”

Well, I didn’t think he could make such a big improvement but it is true!!!   Mommy did a great job of training our future track star because he is moving forward quite a bit and very quickly now.  It is so cool to see him make these advances.  I was impressed and a very PROUD Daddy tonight.

Crawling is still out of the picture.  He seems to want to roll over instead of crawl to get to things he needs.

We took Connor in for his 6 month checkup today.

15lbs 10oz

17 1/4″ head circumference

Dr. Baust said he should be the Gerber baby because of his good looks and beautiful skin.  This is not the first time Connor has heard this — first mention of it was from Ms. Tammy at Daddy’s office.

Dr. Baust also said that Connor is doing great with the solids and said we can move onto to the oatmeal and mixing the foods now.  So, Connor had peas and sweet potatoes for dinner tonight and scarfed them both down as well as 6 ounces of formula.  He was a hungry boy tonight!

Connor also got 5 vaccinations today (1 orally and 2 in each thigh).  He seems to be doing well.  Victoria gave him some Tylenol late this afternoon and Connor appeared to be himself once I got home.  He was using his walker as usual and had playtime with Daddy without any tenderness (complaints) in the legs.

Dr. Baust also said he can see two teeth right below the gum line and says it could be anytime in the next couple of weeks.  Victoria’s been asking if we should get the Baby Orajel ready, but I keep telling her that Connor needs to “man up”.

We only give Connor a bath once a week (something we have gotten the OK on from Dr. Baust in the past), so we wanted to double check and see if we should be giving him a bath more often.  He says once a week is fine and that is probably why his skin is so soft and not drying out.  I asked how long we can continue the once a week baths and see up until 12 months.  Obviously if Connor has a “blow out” or has been outside in the hot weather we would choose to give him a bath that night.  That is my disclaimer before the “give him a bath every night” comments start.  😉

Alright, we already know that I claim to be “father of the century”.  And since Victoria and I read books and went to so many baby classes prior to Connor’s birth, we know everything.  I mean come on, we got Connor to sleep in his crib the 2nd night he was home and he has been an excellent sleeper since then.  It’s all because of the parents–right!!?!?!

Let me climb down off of my perch high above all the other parents just for this one instance (and I mean just this one time).

We have bibs galore in the house.  We didn’t use too much of them early on and truly haven’t bought any since about the 1st month because we had so many as gifts.  Most of the bibs we have do not have a size of them and when I buy a bib I usually buy it for what it says on the front (and the color), so I don’t pay attention to the size of the bib.  I guess they must shrink from all of the washings too.  (Excuses, excuses…)  Anyways, most of the bibs we have are kind of small on Connor now and one of the grandparents finally had to say something because poor Connor looked like he was choking from the tight bibs we put him in.

So, I was told that there were bibs with different sizes and it was suggested we buy some new ones.  I argued the point that “all of the bibs at Babies R Us are one size fits all”.  Did I really know that to be true???  No, but I had to act like I was confident in that statement.  Remember, when I buy a bib it has to meet 2 criteria — blue and a cool saying on the front.

Well, after I returned home last night I decided to check out some of the bibs.  Most of the bibs we had are small but most do not have a size on them.  I did manage to find one of the bibs that said 3-6 months and this was one of the “larger” bibs we had (relatively speaking).  So, I can only imagine most if not all of the other bibs are “infant bibs”.

After talking to the concerned grandparent again tonight and I tried to re-emphasize the “one sizes fits all” at Babies R Us, I was instructed to buy our bibs from Target because they have more than one size.  Sounds to me like someone was doing a little research.

So, I decided to go to Target and buy a bib for Connor.  This one should last him until he is 99 years old!

If any of those new parents are interested in this, Target sells their own brand — 13 gallon with the flap tie closure.

Be sure to get the “flap tie closure” because the Hefty Cinch sacks have a plastic cord in them that could be a choking hazard.

If anyone finds these bibs in blue, let me know so I can buy some.

I realize that society has a lot of preconceptions, but it is time that the mother-father-baby preconceptions start to change.

As everyone is well aware, I have been a very hands-on father. Something previous generations did not do but something that is becoming the norm rather than the exception. With that said…

While we were in Nags Head, we went out to dinner. Of course everyone comments on how cute, handsome, beautiful, adorable (I guess you get the point) my perfect son is. As we were going into the restaurant to be seated, two ladies were leaving. I was holding Connor.  Victoria had already walked in. One of the ladies made the following comment, “What an adorable baby! Look at your big blue eyes…and your mommy knows to dress you in blue to bring them out even more.”

Stop, hold on, rewind that for a second, “…your mommy knows to dress you in blue to bring them out even more.” What does that mean?

• Daddy has no idea how to put clothes on his son.
• Daddy is not color coordinated enough to pick out clothes for his son.
• Daddy just brings home the money and does not do any childrearing at all.

I realize she was just a stranger, but did she know who she was talking to…the “perfect son” and the “perfect father”.

Come on, give me a little credit.

Here are some of the things that Connor likes…

1. Spending time with Mommy and Daddy in bed or on the floor.
2. Eating peas, acorn squash, and sweet potatoes.
3. Spending time in the pool with Daddy.
4. Playing with his Easter ducky that Grandpa and Mimi gave him.
5. Standing up with assistance from anyone that will hold him.
6. Taking naps on Mommy or Daddy’s chest.
7. Taking naps in his pack-n-play.
8. Rolling over.
9. Eating mashed frozen bananas like a popsicle.
10. To be in his walker or bouncy seat.
11. Playing with his car dashboard that makes noises, has lights, a steering wheel, and a gear shift.
12. Looking in the mirror with Grandma.
13. To take a ride in the wagon with Grandpa.
14. He likes to walk up Mimi while she sits on the couch
15. When Mommy and Daddy play “monster” with him.
16. Taking a bath.

Here are a few of Connor’s dislikes…

1. Carrots and apple juice.
2. Being hungry.
3. Being at the beach with waves and the water.
4. Not being able to crawl yet.
5. Being tired

Daddy has been quite busy in the past month or so. He has finally posted some old pictures and made a few new entries. Please be sure to read and view everything.

Daddy, Mommy, and I went to Nags Head for a couple of days. We had a wonderful time. Daddy is also staying home all this week. It is called “vacation”. I think it is cool that he gets to stay home and play with me. I usually miss him when he has to go to work.

We have been busy. My cousins from Florida visited, I went to the zoo with my buddy Aidan, and then we went down to the Outer Banks. I also have been in the pool quite a bit too. Summertime is so much fun!

Oh, Daddy took me to the office in June and I got to see Ms. Tammy. She knows me so well — I think she reads my blog more than anyone else in the world (at least that is what she tells me). She is so wonderful. Hi, Ms. Tammy! 😉

We went down to Kill Devil Heads on the Outer Banks for two nights.  Connor was an excellent traveler, which was expected of him since he is so “perfect”.  We left around 7:30pm and got down there around 9:30pm.  Connor slept the entire time and was ready to play once we got there.  This is when I think he might have said “DaDa” a few times.  Ok, he really said “DaDaDa” and was trying to mimic the way I was saying hit.  Victoria and I could see him forming the “D” by pressing his tongue against the top of his front gums (no teeth yet).  He did this several times and we actually heard him say “DaDaDa” 3 separate times.  Good enough in my book (and that is all that counts, since I am authoring this blog).

I’ve posted new and old pictures since I got behind a little bit.

Connor is turning 6 months old today. Happy Birthday to my perfect son! A lot has gone on in the month or so since I last posted. Connor has mastered the art of rolling over (front to back and back to front). He is getting ever slow close to crawling. He can stand up on his own using my chest/stomach for leverage when I am laying on my back and he is in a kneeling position.

I put together a little slide show (ok, not a little one but 15+ mins). It is truly amazing to see how much he has grown in the past 6 months. I think he is getting close to saying “DaDa” too! He has the tongue action down and says DaDaDa 3 times along with some other babbling.
