Connor was christened at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church today.  His Godparents were Ms. Trish (Victoria’s friend) and Uncle Danny.

More pics of his christening and the holiday weekend will be posted when I have time.

On Friday, Mommy brought Connor up to Daddy’s office and Connor had a chance to show off his new walking skills as well as see all of the “babyblog watchers”.

Ms. Nancy and Ms. Tammy picked up a couple of Christmas gifts for Connor.

One was a “My First Bible” which is a pictorial bible and they personalized it for Connor by writing a little message on the inside cover.  I am sure Connor will enjoy having Mommy and Daddy read and show him stories from the his new Bible.

The other was a set of rattles (maracas) that make sounds and say numbers or colors in English or Spanish when shaken.  Connor enjoyed these right away and after Ms. Tammy showed him how to shake them, he was shaking them on his own and having fun.

The grandparents just don’t learn…or maybe Daddy just doesn’t learn….

I would have thought after 18+ months of this blog that the grandparents would have learned that this is Daddy’s way of telling them he knows how to parent and doesn’t need any help. 😉 (We all know that I am perfect.)

Before any of you call Social Services on me… Connor has a tendency to just take a quick swig of his formula now a days. He very seldom spends a long time guzzling his milk like before. Just please keep that in mind when you mothers read this.

Well, another training session for Daddy had been brewing for the past couple of weeks. When Daddy feeds Connor, Daddy has a tendency to just give him the bottle with one hand and let Connor tilt his head back on his own. No big deal, but it might not look too “motherly” (or is “parently” the politically correct word?).

Anyways, Grandma has been watching that for the past month or so and last Sunday when Daddy and Connor visited her she made a comment about it.

Grandma: “Hold his little head when you feed him.”

Daddy: “He’s a big boy.”

Grandma: “Grandma, holds his head when she feeds him.”

Daddy: [Just smiles]

Fast forward to last night when Mommy and Daddy visited Grandma for dinner.

Connor: [Motions for his bottle.]

Daddy: [Plops the bottle in Connor’s mouth with one hand, as Connor tilts his own head back. At the same time, Daddy notices Grandma kind of sits up in her chair a little taller and seemed ready to pounce to help her favorite Grandson.]

Grandma: [Sits quietly.]

A few minutes later…

Connor: [Motions for his bottle.]

Daddy: [Plops the bottle in Connor’s mouth with one hand, as Connor tilts his own head back.]

Grandma: “Let Grandma give you your milk and I will hold your head for you.”  [As she is walking over to Connor’s chair and takes the bottle from Daddy.]

Daddy and Mommy: [Laughing.]

Connor, remember that if you have neck problems when you grow older (like your Daddy) it is not from Grandma, but is because of your Daddy. Grandma always held your head for you.

My question for Grandma, why does Daddy have neck problems? Did you not hold my head when you were feeding me my bottle????

Turn up your sound and enjoy…

In last week’s posting  Why is Daddy bothering me?!!?!? , Connor mentioned how Daddy was trying to get him to walk with such urgency.  Well, here is a little background on why that was.

Daddy had asked Grandma to come over that Friday so Mommy and Daddy could go Christmas shopping.  Daddy and Grandma have this little competition where each tries to one up the other by getting Connor to do something for them first.  (Now I know where my brother, cousin, and I get our competitive spirit from.)

Well, I realized on Wednesday night that I had two nights to get Connor walking.  He was real close and if I didn’t get it done by Thursday night I was certain Grandma would have him walking by the time Victoria and I returned from our shopping trip.

Needless to stay, he walked for Daddy some on Wednesday and Thursday night, but the big walk was for Mommy on Thursday afternoon (7 steps).  Unfortunately there is no video of that.

Brenna invited Connor to ride with her in the Yorktown Christmas parade down by the Riverwalk. It was a bit chilly but everyone had a great time. This is a quick post and I plan on posting the other pictures soon.

Ms. Anne (Brenna’s Grandma) gave Connor a big candy cane. It was covered in plastic wrap and Connor had his pacifier in when we first gave it to him, so we didn’t think he would manage to get too far. After about 10 minutes of trying, he was successful and to Mommy and Daddy’s surprise he had red candy cane all over his face. Our sticky little boy was enjoying the sugar rush.

Victoria called me during lunch today to tell me that Connor took 7 steps by himself today.  She said after he did this she cried a little bit because she was so proud of him.

He walked more for me this evening and he went to bed early — probably from all the extra activity from today.

I’ll try to get video of the walking and post it online this weekend.
