Saturday morning I experienced my first tropical storm. I don’t know what all the fuss was about. I mean, Mommy and Daddy took me for a walk last night and I loved to have the breeze blowing through my hair.
Well, since the storm rolled through Saturday, Daddy decided to take that time and baby proof the family room. I had overheard Daddy talking to Mommy and Grandma about baby proofing the house. He seemed to be stressing about it. I mean what is the problem, I just like to explore and touch things (like wires and outlets).
I came down stairs yesterday morning to find Daddy replacing the blinds with strings with blinds that don’t have strings. He also attached the TV and another piece of furniture to the wall with straps so I could not pull them over on me. The biggest change was that Daddy covered the TV stand with some plastic wrap (a cut down shower curtain) and pushed it back in the corner so I could not get to the wires any longer. That is alright, I can still stand up and leave my finger prints all over the TV screen. 😉
Nice job Dad! And quit stressing about baby proofing…
Love,
Connor

Alright, with Connor being so mobile now I have been a little worried about what he can get into. Between the wires, outlets, computers, TVs, cat food, etc… it definitely can drive a new parent crazy. Things sure were easier when Connor was immobile.
Well, I did a little shopping tonight and found a couple of items that will ease my worries…

My question to you grandparents and parents that have already raised your kids — how the heck did you survive this stage without all of this added protection?!!?!?!?!
Don’t worry, I am not buying him this stuff. But trust me, I seriously thought about buying the helmet just so I could send it over Grandpa’s house and tell Grandpa that his grandson needed to where it while he played.
Love you guys!

Here is a snap shot of Grandma feeding Connor at a Burger King off of Route 13 near Dover, Delaware.
This is from our trip to New Jersey last month.
Connor has a difficult time concentrating on his meal when there is more than one person (or even cats) in the room. Just imagine how difficult this feeding was for Grandma with people coming and going from this Burger King. Connor’s head was on a swivel (but Grandma still managed to keep his face squeaky clean).

Connor is growing so fast.
He has mastered seating, crawling, pulling himself up, and now has cut his 2nd tooth. Daddy was privileged enough to notice the new tooth in Toys R Us this evening. Connor and I were visiting Toys R Us so I could buy some “baby proofing” items (.ie cabinet/drawer locks).
I know I am jinxing myself now, but he has not had any noticeable discomfort with his 1st two teeth. I guess he gets his high tolerance of pain from his father. (Now come on, we all know how true that is!)

Connor loves his boat that Victoria’s friend Trish gave to him. He gets on it each evening and really enjoys it.
It is a little dark, but you get the idea…

Latest thing that Mommy caught him standing against was the T.V.
We have to keep a very close eye on Connor now and CANNOT leave the room even for a brief second. He has also graduated from the basic crawl to one where he is using the opposite arm and leg motion, which gets him where he needs to go much quicker.
When I went to get him this morning from his crib, he was standing up against the side of the crib as if to say, “Where have you been, Dad?”
Here is Connor standing against the TV:

Victoria has continued to add new foods to Connor’s diet. Just this past weekend, she started to give Connor some of the Yo-Baby Yogurt.
We’ve added advocado and zucchinis to the dislike list. Carrots continue to be a dislike as well.
Blueberries are probably his #1 favorite food and peach flavored yogurt is running a close 2nd.

I sat down in the family room with Victoria to watch some T.V. She had put Connor in his Pack-n-Play so we could relax and not chase the “rug-rat” all over the place.
He started to move around and position himself in the pack-n-play. Victoria noticed what he was doing and told me to watch…(evidently, he had already showed Mommy this new trick).
He began to put his hand against the netting on the pack-n-play from a kneeling position. Seeing the railing is out of his reach, he was smart enough to figure out that if he puts his forehead on the netting, it would allow him to raise his arms above his heads and grasp the top railing. I was watching in amazement (again, Mommy had already seen this trick). With his forehead pressing against the netting, he was able to reach for and grab the top railing. He then pulled himself up into a standing position. At that point, I figured the trick was over — but, Mommy told me to wait. He then got on his tip-toes. This was just high enough for him to peer out over the railing with his eyes. He let out a big smile — his way of saying, see what I learned yesterday!
I love you, Connor.
