Connor sleeps in his new room!

July 12th, 2010 by

We finished getting Connor’s new room together and last night was the big night.

Here is how it went…

We read a book to Connor and put him to bed.  He says, “Don’t put up the gate.”

Daddy bites and says, “Ok, will you be a big boy and stay in your bed?”

Connor responds, “Yes.”

So, Mommy and I head down to our room and here come the pitter-patter of little feet.

Connor says, “I want a kiss.”

So, we kiss him in the middle of the hallway and send him back to bed.  I hear him walking back to his bed and he gets almost all the way there and I hear him talking to himself and he says, “I want ‘nother kiss.”  Pitter-patter of feet and then we give him a kiss.

We done this before and lost the battle, so I pulled the gate out and put it up in his door frame.  He was not at all happy, so then I climbed over and laid in his bed with him.  I put my arm around him and held him tight.  He then put his arm around me to hold me tight and to make sure I wasn’t going anywhere.  After about 10 minutes, he was nearly asleep.  I started to make my exit by taking his arm off of me…

He turns to me and says (in the cutest and most innocent questioning voice you can imagine), “Where you going?”

Daddy responds, “No where.”

Two minutes later, I try the exit again, this time I slowly slide off the bed.  Again, “Where you going?”

“No where.”

After laying on the floor for about 2 or 3 more minutes I finally leave.  Again, “Where you going?”

“To bed.”

Silence.

He did wake around 2:30am and I settled him down in about a couple of minutes.  Mommy said he slept in his bed until 6:40am today and surprisingly was asking for Daddy when he woke up this morning (he usually asks for Mommy on the weekends).

He now calls his room, “Connor’s room” and calls Jacob’s room (his old room), “Baby Jacob’s room”.

Can it be this easy????

I love you, Connor!

P.S. — Please don’t grow any older!!!!!

Mommy, Jacob, and Connor napping

I snapped a picture of “the three of them” napping over the weekend.  (Connor was sick at the time with a sore throat.)

Connor’s new haircut

July 12th, 2010 by

We took Connor to Sport Clips in Newport News (where I get my haircut) for his 1st official haircut by a professional. Mommy and Daddy have cut his hair a few times over the past 12 months, so we were looking forward to see what a professional could do.

Unfortunately they were real busy and we had to wait nearly 30 minutes to be seen. Connor was being good but I could see he was getting a little anxious. It was finally his turn, I scooped him up and carried him to the back. On the way back, I grab a lollipop that they have in the basket at the cash register (the key to it all — at least I hoped so). I told the woman that this was the first time someone other than Mommy and Daddy was going to cut his hair. I think she was a little nervous…I am not sure why — he is “perfect”, remember. Maybe she had heard the horror stories on “Hurricane Connor” rumbling through the grandparents’ houses when he was 6-9 months old and didn’t want to be out of eye sight of his parents. Or maybe she just knows how it usually goes for kids…

Anyways…she put a cape on me then Connor sat on my lap and she put a cape on him. Daddy and his boy were going to get a haircut (I actually had mine yesterday). Mommy sat in the chair beside us and watched. The lady asked how we wanted it cut and said, “We want a little boy cut. Just don’t take off too much.”

Connor was now holding his lollipop and try to unwrap it. She began cutting and Connor paid in no mind. She continued to cut and Connor was sucking on his lollipop. She was nearly done and decided to take out the electric clippers…I was a little hesitant about this but didn’t say or show it. She told Connor, “It is going to tickle.” He watched her closely as she moved the weird, mechanical noise closer to his ear. He didn’t move a bit and then started to smile as electric clippers “tickled” him behind his ear. She finished things up and he got down. He gave Daddy a high five and wanted another lollipop (as Daddy had promised).

What a big boy! He was SO GOOD! So, “PERFECT” (just like his Daddy). 😉

Connor helping Daddy.

July 6th, 2010 by Donnie

This is my favorite video to date!

We were putting together is new dresser for his new room.  We moved a lot of his toys into his new room.  I painted and we had the carpet steamed clean in the house in anticipation of Baby Jacob.  Connor loves his new room and will probably begin sleeping in it next week.

We asked him if he was going to sleep in his new room and new bed and he said, “No…Baby Jacob sleep new bed.  I sleep crib.”  Uh-oh…is this going to be a problem????

Baby Jacob’s 3D ultrasound

July 6th, 2010 by Donnie

Baby Jacob did not cooperate today.  The was plenty of umbilical cord and a leg in the way of his face.  The ultrasound tech tried for 30 minutes to get him to move but it was not meant to be.  We got a few pics, but the quality is not great, so I annotated them.

Connor went with us and was sleeping for the first 5-10 minutes.  Then he woke up and was more interested in the machine and wires used to do the ultrasound than what was on the TV screen.

4th of July Fireworks

July 6th, 2010 by Donnie

Connor enjoyed the 4th of July fireworks for the first time on Sunday.  We sat over on the Gloucester side of the York River watching the fireworks.  Connor would put his head on my chest and just lay there watching the display of colors.  It was not too loud, so he was not frightened.

He would turn to me and say, “The man turn off.”  And I would say, “Yes the man will turn off the fireworks.”  Connor then would say, “The man turn fireworks on tomorrow?”  And I said, “No, the man will turn the fireworks back on next year.”

He was so cute and was amazed at the fireworks.  He soon realized that some were bigger than others and would turn to me and say, “That was a big one.”  And I responded, “Yes, that was a BIG ONE.”

Here is a picture of him enjoying a nectarine before the fireworks began.  Check out the gallery for additional pics.

Brenna and Connor at Water Country

July 4th, 2010 by Donnie

Happy 4th of July!!!!

Brenna and Connor went to Water Country today for a few hours. Here are a couple of pics and video. They rode on Hubba-Hubba Highway with me and had a great time. Connor went around 3 times and I finally how to get him out of the water because he was shivering and his lips were turning blue. Trust me…he didn’t want to get out and was very unhappy with Daddy when I took him out. Even a Berry Ice Slushy was not enough to entice him to get out of the water!
