Connor’s 1st official playdate in his room

December 27th, 2009 by Donnie

Connor’s room has not seen much use other than for sleeping and changing his diaper and clothes.  The reason is simple, it is upstairs and his toys are downstairs.  Well, that sort of changed this evening.

Connor received a table a chair set from Santa and when asked if if he wanted it upstairs or downstairs he said, “Upstairs.”  So we took 3 of the 4 chairs upstairs with the table.  The 4th chair was left downstairs with his laptop in Connor’s Office.  We also took his Hot Wheels and garage up there as well.

After dinner, he wanted Mommy and Daddy to go upstairs to play with him.  So, we all went upstairs….

He was a proud and “grown up” little boy.  He told Mommy to “Sit down Mommy” (Daddy taught him how to say this earlier in the day when he kept patting on the ground to have me sit down.  I told him then, “Sit down Daddy.”)  It is really amazing how quickly he is learning and verbalizing things now.

I was already sitting down, so he then shut his door to his room as if to say it was his room and we were not leaving anytime soon (and he was right about that).  We played with his Hot Wheels and his new alphabet toy Santa left at Brenna’s house for him.  Next he took all of his stuffed animals and put them in his crib.  Then he got all of his “burp cloths” (Connor’s favorite “blanket(s)”) and put them in the crib with his stuffed animals.  He then told Mommy to shut the overhead light off (a little lamp was still on).  He said, “Night. Night.”  I guess he wanted to make sure each of his stuffed animals had a burp cloth to sleep with and that is why he through all of them in the crib.

We were in there for about 45 minutes and it was getting close for Connor’s bedtime (and mine, too).  So I asked, “Do you want to go to bed?”  He said, “No” but then preceded to get all of his burp clothes out of the crib (by pulling them through the slats) and piling them up where Mommy and Daddy were laying on the floor.  Then he put his head down and laid down.

We took him downstairs for a snack and then he went back upstairs for bed (in his crib).

That was cool to see how he was using his imagination in his room!
