Jacob
Most of the postings have been pictures and/or video and less of the rambling type posts I used to do in the past. Well…here is a post like the old days…
In the past week or so, Jacob has been sleeping more during the day and that has been concerning Victoria for a couple of reasons:
- She doesn’t want him wide awake a bed time or in the middle of the night (especially when it is “her shift”).
- She is concerned there is something wrong with him…growing too fast, that he might be sick, or something else.
So I got a text message Friday morning saying, “Jacob sleeps a lot. I worry about him.”
My response, “He is ok. We can talk about it later.”
So when I got home I told her my theory on why he is “ok” and why he sleeps so much during the day:
Every night he goes to bed at 8:30pm or so and he sleeps through the night until about 4:30am. Now remember that I am Victoria’s ears while she sleeps because she takes her hearing aid off (to give the skin between the magnets a rest). At 4:30am our “little mover” or “perfect son #2” wakes up slowly. I hear him grunt a little bit…maybe sneeze…and then it is play time. Feet go up in the air and bang down on the mattress. I hear him moving around. He laughs at times and will let our a brief whine but it is more of one where he is talking/entertaining himself.
Now I get up at 5:30am to go to work…so I usually just ignore what he is doing because he is not crying. At 5:30am I go through my normal routine and leave Jacob in his crib. I hope in the shower (Victoria and Connor are still sleeping and Jacob is still playing). By the time I get out of the shower, Jacob usually has fallen back asleep. So that is nearly 2 hours of play time in his crib that Mommy never knows about. He plays so quietly and seems to be so content in there. (He has to make up for that sleep somewhere else.)
Around 7am or 7:30am he wakes up and is the happiest baby I have ever seen in the morning (sorry Connor…he takes the cake on this). He smiles and has even started to provide us with a little laugh lately.
Sure it would be ideal for him to play during the day and sleep all night, but this seems to work for him and he has learned to entertain himself…so no complaints from Mommy or Daddy.
My theory on why he wakes up so early…he is going to be a golfer…we always get up as early as possible to go and play a round of golf!
We love you, Jacob!
