I am not sure why my videos don’t have sound…but will figure it out when I have a chance. For now, enjoy Jacob and Connor silently.

Update on Jacob

October 17th, 2010 by Donnie

We took Jacob to the doctor on Friday because he has been having crying spells more frequently and for longer periods of time (1.5 to 2.5 hrs).  We thought it was colic but the doctor thinks it is acid reflux.  He prescribed some medication like Zantac and we started Jacob on that Friday night.  Friday night was probably the best night for sleeping we ALL have had in 4 weeks.  Jacob slept from 8:30pm until 2am then from 3am until 7:30am.  No crying spells in between.

We have found it is best to keep him upright as much as possible and he is currently sleeping in his car seat.  He stays in his car seat or swing during the day (when we are not holding him).  Slower feedings and not “forcing” him to finish a bottle is also helping.

Here are a couple of videos of a much happier baby Jacob!

Busy (but very FUN) Saturday!

October 17th, 2010 by Donnie

Saturday was one of those days you “dream” about as a parent.

9:45am — off to Isaac’s soccer game (Connor can play in the Spring)

11:15am — off to McDonald’s for a quick bite to eat

12:15pm — off to Pumpkinville in Toano with Connor’s friends

2pm — off to Uncle Danny’s house in Richmond for his Fall cookout

6:30pm — heading back to Newport News

9pm — bedtime

Take a look at the pics to see how enjoyable Saturday was!

1st day at preschool…

October 5th, 2010 by Donnie

Well, we dropped him off, he cried as Victoria left, Victoria teared up as we drove down the road, and I went home a took a nap (I was wiped out from Jacob and Connor…too much stress).

Connor used the potty at school!!! Had lunch and played outside…sounds like he really enjoyed it!!! (If they handed out gold stars he would have gotten one!)

The pictures of him outside are when we went to pick him up. He rushed over to see us and then rushed back to play!

Here are some pics…click on the last one for the gallery of pics:

What a night…

October 3rd, 2010 by Donnie

We went to Yorktown Beach to secretly shoot a couple getting engaged with Laura and Wes (Abby and Isaac’s parents).  All the kids went with us.  Afterward we went out for dinner with all 5 kids.

Connor needed to use the potty but is not quite comfortable peeing standing up and I don’t like him sitting on those NASTY toilets.  So, after 2 times trying he finally had an accident in the restaurant.  (Thankfully we had brought extra clothes for him and Mommy got him changed.)  Jacob wanted to be fed and Laura helped out with that.  I held Jacob and ate my dinner.  When Wes was done, he then held Jacob for me so I could finish eating.

By the time we left, Connor was starting to get tired and Jacob was not a happy camper.  Connor was crying in the backseat and Jacob was wailing too (he usually does this around 8pm each night).

As we were leaving, Wes and I exchanged eye contact and smiled at one another — I guess being a veteran father of two, he new how that ride home was going to be.  After about 10 mins, Jacob calmed down and Connor was busy watching a DVD in the back.

Jacob was up for about 2 hours last night screaming and crying starting around 11:30pm.  We are starting to think he might have colic…more on this later when I have time to write more.

Welcome to parenthood!
