Victoria and I went back to the gym tonight for the first time in a while. Let’s just say it is the first time since we found out we are parents-to-be. (Truth is, it has been months since either one of us has set foot in the gym.) I worked out by myself and Victoria went to the Dyna-Moms class.
Dyna-Moms is an aerobics class geared towards moms-to-be and new mothers. Our doctor’s office recommended it and it lasts one hour.
I worked out for the first 1/2 hour by myself and then ventured upstairs to watch Victoria. (No, I wasn’t tired from my workout — I just wanted to see how Victoria was doing.) 😉
She was having a good time and made a couple of friends while she was there. They all saw me in the mirror and gave a wave to me. One woman took a break and asked me to join in. I declined and said I would just watch. I don’t know, something about squatting on a big red ball and breathing deeply just didn’t appeal to my manly side. So, I turned on my iPod and watched Victoria. I began to dream about our future gold medalist that is growing inside Victoria and how this first workout was going to shape his or her life. Ahh, I can see it now — I am going to be one of those “lunatic Little League parents” that is all nuts about his child.
Nahh, I am just having fun with you guys! 😉

Victoria and I spent the day together. The weather has been gorgeous here lately (low to mid 80’s and sunny). We had breakfast outside this morning and then went up to Newport News park for a paddle boat ride. We took a few pictures there and then came home and cooked out. We spent some alone time on the hammock and now we are just listening to Dave Matthews and sitting on the deck. I thought this would be a good time to update the blog some too.
Here are a few pics of the Mom and Dad to be on the 4th of July.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful and safe 4th of July.

Victoria and I went to Kohls the other day to pick out some maternity clothes for her. While she was trying on some of the clothes, I wandered over to the baby section. I looked at a few outfits and came across one that I had to buy. Click here for baby’s first outfit from Daddy.
It is green (one of the gender neutral colors), so I felt I could not miss with this one. Most of you are going to think I want a boy based on this outfit, but that is not true. I am just hoping he or she likes golf and plays more often than my cousin does (where in the world is Buck Long?)
Victoria also picked out an outfit. The first one she picked out was pink (imagine that). It was cute, but I told her that we don’t know if it will be a boy or a girl so I sent her back to pick out a BLUE outfit (just kidding). 😉 I told her to pick out another outfit that was either green or yellow. This is what she picked out. Click here for baby’s first outfit from Mommy.

Victoria and I went on a movie date last night and saw Knocked Up. My brother and Kristen saw this movie a couple of weeks ago and suggested we go see it.
One funny part was when she thought she was pregnant. She bought one of every type of pregnancy test and tried each one. Each one came back positive. Victoria and I got a laugh out of this because that is what we did. We tested twice with one brand and then we went and bought another brand with two more tests in it. So, we tested 4 times with two different brands of tests.
Another funny part (for me) was when the main actress was having the baby. She was yelling and cursing at everyone. The whole delivery scene was funny and I was laughing quite a bit. Victoria started out laughing and then it quickly turned to “oh my God” when they showed a couple of shots of the baby “crowning”. As I noticed Victoria was a little concerned, I toned down my laughter. It would have been great to watch our reactions during that scene… Me laughing. Victoria laughing. Me laughing harder. Victoria saying “oh my God”. Me realizing I should try to be understanding to Victoria’s feelings. And me laughing again. Victoria having a perplexed look on her face. Too funny!
I realize the movie is a comedy but there was a touching moment for me in the film. It was right after the birth and the new father walked out to the waiting room to announce his new baby girl to his buddies. That was a cool feeling and I can only imagine what it will feel like when it is happening to me. My buddy Tony has told me that there is no feeling in the world like seeing your child being born. Can we hurry this thing along? We are not even at 10 weeks yet….

Alright, it has only been 7 weeks since we found out about the pregnancy. We have been married for 3 1/2 years. In those 3 1/2 years before the pregnancy test, I think Victoria had made brownies only one time.
She now has bought her 3rd box of Duncan Hines brownies in the past 7 weeks (and I am hoping she makes them this weekend). I think we have a new brownie lover in the family. She also bought dark chocolate pudding and fudge pudding. All this chocolate for her is out of the ordinary.
If my wife is going to make brownies every other week, I think me might have to consider a few more kids! 😉
Maybe I should start to track my weight on this blog too. I know, I can set a poll up and you guys can vote who will gain more weight during the pregnancy. 😉 Not a chance that is gonna happen!

Victoria had her first encounter with a smell she just could not stand. I heard and read that a women’s sense of smell is heightened during pregnancy. Well, last Friday night we were at a rehearsal dinner for a wedding and Victoria was quite bothered by the smell in the cafeteria.
Keep in mind that Victoria is not much of a “country food” person — she doesn’t like fried chicken, etc… The couple had fried chicken, potato salad, cole slaw, etc… I must admit the grease smell from the fried chicken was pretty bad. But poor Victoria just couldn’t stand it.
We had to stay and take pictures at the rehearsal dinner, so leaving was not an option. So, I ran out to the truck — got 3 or 4 mints and a bottle of water. Gave them to her and that seemed to do the trick.
They asked us if we wanted some food and we politely said no. We laughed quite a bit about it later. 😉

Victoria has developed a slight “heat rash” on the backside of her knees. It does not itch too much but we decided to call the Baby Fit registered nurse and see what she said. She said rashes are pretty typical and to try Benadryl for a day or two.
We will try to post some pictures of Victoria in the next few days…we have been busy with the wedding photography business and pictures are usually the last thing we want to look at in our free time.

Victoria has not had much weight gain lately which is as expected. The initial weight gain was probably mostly water gain. She does have a bit of a stomach now and most of her pants and shorts don’t fit her anymore. I know it is a little early to be buying maternity clothes, but she is going to have to do something soon.

My soon-to-be daddy is trying to rush me along. In the ultrasounds, he circled the 6cm and said I was that big. Well, 6cm is 2.5 inches and I am only truly about 5/8 inch long at this point. If I am truly 6cm long right now, I suggest my dad find a sport’s agent and sign me to a long term basketball contract because I might end up being 7ft tall. 😉
I think Daddy was a little too anxious and didn’t listen to the doctor when I was measured.
Hopefully he will get the video phone working next time and pay more attention to my measurements. 😉

Victoria is over 100 pounds finally. When we went to see the doctor, they weighed her at 104 lbs. Victoria said some of that weight was from her shoes and clothes. I told her not to worry about it…
