I’ve got Mommy and Daddy into a routine.

March 4th, 2008 by Baby Woodruff

For 6.5 weeks now, here is the nightly routine that I have manipulated Mommy and Daddy into:

  1. Mommy feeds me.
  2. Daddy takes over, burps me and plays with me for about 1 to 2 hours (depending on how tired he or I am).
  3. Mommy feeds me again.
  4. Daddy burps me, takes me to my room, turns on the night light and lamp, changes my diaper, swaddles me, and then reads to me in the rocking chair. He has done this EVERY night since they brought me home from the hospital.
  5. Daddy turns on the noise machine Mimi and Grandpa bought for them which plays a variety of sounds. I especially like the one called “Summer nights” because I can hear crickets and frogs.
  6. Daddy puts me to bed and then Mommy and Daddy usually head to bed and listen very carefully for me.
  7. Sometime after 3am — I usually get fed again. Sometimes I can go all the way to 5 or 6am the next morning.

I really love the fact that Daddy has read to me EVERY night since we have come home from the hospital. I think he is terrified that if he misses a nightly reading, I will fall into a new sleep (or better yet a no sleep) pattern. So, I have him suckered into reading to me nearly in the dark each night.

Last night I was wide awake when Daddy swaddled me and read to me. Mommy had to help Daddy turn the pages on the book because Daddy was holding the book in one hand and patting my back with his other hand. (hehehehe, what a sucker!) I’ve got the two of them wrapped around my little finger.

Grandma, Mimi, and Grandpa — Mommy and Daddy were laughing at me last night while the were reading the book to me. They thought it was so funny that I was wide awake. I was staring at Daddy with my eyes wide open as he read to me. Little did they know I was trying to tell them to pick a new book. I have heard that same story for nearly 45 days straight now!!!!

Daddy — once you can nearly recite the book with out having to turn the pages, it is time to find a new book to entertain me.

Love,

Connor

Daddy’s family visits…

February 19th, 2008 by Baby Woodruff

My first out of town guests came this past weekend.  Be sure to check out the photo gallery to see my pictures of the visit.  We all went over Grandma’s house in Hampton and had a wonderful time.  I slept most of the time.

Daddy wins at golf even though I kept him up all night.

February 19th, 2008 by Baby Woodruff

Daddy, Uncle Danny, and Uncle Buck (Daddy’s cousin from NJ) golfed on Saturday. Daddy won (like he always does).

Uncle Danny had a chat with me on Saturday night while I was over Grandma’s house and he promised to buy me a toy if I kept Daddy up all night Saturday night. I think he wanted me to do that because they were going to be golfing again Sunday morning.

See, Daddy, Uncle Danny, and Uncle Buck are very competitive when it comes to golf (or anything else). I did as Uncle Danny suggested and Saturday night was the worst night Daddy has had since we came home from the hospital. He got about 2.5 hours of sleep Saturday night because I did not want to go to bed.

So Daddy was tired when he played golf Sunday. BUT, from the way Uncle Danny and Uncle Buck left town on Sunday, I think Daddy won at golf again.

I can’t wait until I am old enough to play golf with them. They will be a bunch of old men by then (in their 50’s) and I will be beating them all the time!

Love,

Connor

My first official photo shoot with Mommy…

February 13th, 2008 by Baby Woodruff

Here is a sneak peak at one of the shots Mommy took of me tonight.  Others will follow, but Daddy wants it to be a surprise for my grandparents.

Connor

My favorite new toy.

February 12th, 2008 by Baby Woodruff

Mommy started to play with me in my gym that I think Mimi and Grandpa bought for me a long time ago (June 2007 — when I weighted less than 1 ounce).

It is great! Daddy started to play with me tonight and started to act like Uncle Danny and began to take video of me. Daddy and Mommy are always taking my picture with a phone or a camera. Can you say Paparazzi?

My first dinner out

February 12th, 2008 by Baby Woodruff

Tonight, Mommy and Daddy took me out to dinner at a place called Applebees. I slept the whole time as Mommy and Daddy enjoyed their dinner and dessert. I opened eyes a few times just to keep Mommy and Daddy on edge.

Daddy asked for the check a little early just in case they had to leave early. I don’t know why he was so worried. I heard him tell the waitress that “we’ve got a ticking time bomb here” when he asked for the check.

Grandma, Mimi, and Grandpa — can you tell Daddy to please talk nice about me in public. I was very well behaved, I don’t know what the problem could have been.

Love,

Connor

This is what I wore out to dinner:

I am growing!

February 12th, 2008 by Baby Woodruff

Mommy and I continue to do a great job with the breastfeeding.  Mommy and Daddy think that I weigh around 7.5 lbs, but they will find out officially next Monday (that is my 1 month checkup).

I am no longer wearing the “newborn” diapers and I have graduated to size 1’s now.  They fit so much better, but I think the diaper rides a little high on me.  I mean, come on…it is nearly up around my armpits.  But they have so much more room which allows me to shoot a little surprise at Daddy when he sneaks a peak in my diaper to see if I went to the bathroom.  I got him on his finger the other day…next time, I’ll aim at the face!  😉

Rumor has it…

February 12th, 2008 by Baby Woodruff

…that I might be going to Grandma’s house this weekend.  This will be my first visit to her house.  Daddy’s family is visiting from New Jersey and I will get to meet everyone for the first time.  I hope she has some cool toys and a warm house for me.  Daddy told me that Grandma likes to open the window in the kitchen during the winter.   😉

Next week I plan to go over Mimi and Grandpa’s house to see my Great Grandmother and Mommy’s Aunt who are visiting from Florida.  I can’t wait.  I also get to see my cousin Brenna.

Love,
Connor

My new toy…

February 12th, 2008 by Baby Woodruff

Tonight, Daddy pulled out a “new toy” for me. It had some weird name (Baby Bjorn) that I can’t say and probably won’t be able to say for another 10 years.

Well, once he figured out how to get it on he put me in the carrier and we walked around the house. Mommy took a video of it. You can see that I loved it because I fell asleep within 5 minutes of being in it. It kind of reminds me of sleeping on Daddy’s chest, so that is why I feel asleep while I was in the carrier.

Mommy tried it on too and liked it. Mommy and Daddy think it is cool and are going to start using it around house so they can get things done (like cook, eat, and/or folder laundry). Daddy already tried to eat with me in the carrier and he dropped pineapple juice on my head. Can I get a mini-umbrella to protect me from Daddy’s messy eating habits?

Love,

Connor

I am firing Daddy and hiring Mommy full time…

January 25th, 2008 by Baby Woodruff

I gained 3 ounces in 3 days and I am almost back to my birth weight a week in advance.  My doctor was amazed at how well I am doing and he said that I could tell Daddy to go back to his day job and give up the bottle feeding.

See, Mommy would breastfeed me and then Daddy would supplement with formula.  I was taking almost 2 ounces from Daddy just a couple of days ago, but I have been slowly taking less from him and getting more milk from Mommy.

So, I gave Daddy his pink slip today and I hired Mommy full time based on the doctor’s recommendation.  Daddy is always standing by, but I don’t think I will need him too much because Mommy and I are doing such a good job.

Daddy can do the other things like change my dirty diapers.  😉

Love,

Connor
