And finally…

May 23rd, 2010 by Donnie

After many hours of routing, sanding, cutting, staining, and two days of putting it together with 3 other helpers…we are proud to announce the “Connor and Baby 2 Swing Set”…

Daddy had a lot of help and unfortunately has been sick since Wednesday…on Saturday and Sunday I hardly had a voice. I think Uncle Danny appreciated that as I couldn’t “bark out orders” as much!

This is not one of those swing sets you can by from Lowes, Wal-Mart, Toys-R-Us…rather it is one that I got the plans online for about $20 and bought the wood and did it all myself.

I haven’t total it all up…but the wood, parts, etc…will run around $700 and it will last for a long time!

Thanks go to Uncle Danny, Mr. Wes (Isaac and Abby’s Dad), Mr. Mark (Daddy’s buddy), Uncle Bucky (for his advice from afar), and Mommy, Grandma, and Ms. Laura (Isaac and Abby’s Mom) for making the food while we worked! I appreciate all the help you guys gave me…we did a GREAT JOB and it is so sturdy that I can swing on it with Connor!!! (Now we all know that is really why I made it!)

I am not quite done as we have to put a rock wall on the back. I didn’t buy enough wood for that piece on the first go round…I’ll post pics of that once it is done in about 2 weeks.

Here is the finished product!

Connor has a sleep over with Uncle Danny at Grandma’s house…

May 23rd, 2010 by Donnie

After a long hard day of watching Daddy and Uncle Danny work on his swingset, Connor had a sleep over with Uncle Danny at Grandma’s house.

Here is Connor watching Daddy and Uncle Danny working on his swingset from the back door.  He’s go his water, crackers, and chair…and is relaxing as we worked hard.  He was waiting in anticipation of the final product.  (Sorry for the glare on the glass…)

Here is Connor having fun with Uncle Danny after dinner at Grandma’s house…

What could this be???? Stay tuned…

May 20th, 2010 by Donnie

Daddy’s been busy over the past few weeks in anticipation of this weekend.  Him and Uncle Danny are going to be building something.

Could it be a new crib?  (You say that is too much wood for a crib, but maybe it is for two cribs because I still think there might be a 2nd one hiding in Mommy’s tummy).

Could it be an addition to the house?

Could it be an ark because of all the rain we had this week?

If all goes well, you will get to see the results Sunday afternoon…check back then!

Sick boy…

May 9th, 2010 by Donnie

We went to Grandma’s house Saturday evening to celebrate Mother’s Day (a little) early with her as Mommy took her Mom (Mimi) out to dinner for Mother’s Day.

We had a good time and I snapped some pictures while we were there. Connor didn’t eat dinner and was not acting his normal self. Grandma was quick to pick up on it and kept telling me, “He is kind of out of sorts. Definitely not being himself tonight.” He didn’t want to eat, he didn’t play with the toys he normally plays with, and the kicker was he didn’t even go over to the candy dish when he entered the house or even while we were there.

You can see from the pics, that he doesn’t quite look himself in a few of them.

Sunday morning he came down with a fever and we have been battling it with the generic (Target brand) Tylenol and Motrin. It spiked to 104.2 this afternoon and has been around 102 to 103 for a while now. It did go do to 99 around 7pm and Connor had some dinner with us. It is back up to 103.2 now and I gave him two ice pops and some water. The doctor said just to watch him and if we didn’t feel comfortable with how he was, we could take him to the Urgent Care. For now, we will just keep an eye on him and make sure to alternate the “motrin” and “tylenol”.

Connor’s wish to the Moms out there…

“Happy Mommy’s Day” a little early

May 7th, 2010 by Donnie

As Connor and I were out and about the other night, we stopped by Target. I love just talking to Connor and telling him things. So I start telling him, we need to buy Mommy something for Mother’s Day. I keep repeating that and even asking him if thinks Mommy will like why we were getting her for Mother’s Day.

Next we stopped by the cards to pick out a Mother’s Day card. Again, I am talking to him and telling him what we are doing. So by this time, I think he figured out that Mother’s Day had something to do with Mommy. (I didn’t realize he was picking up on this.)

Next I start trying to get him to say, “Happy Mother’s Day” in anticipation of springing this upon Mommy on Sunday morning. So, the tricky part is I have to teach him how to say it but not have him spoil the surprise. Well, he couldn’t quite say the “Mother’s” portion of the wish, so he quickly figured out (without me telling him) that “Happy Mommy’s Day” was close enough.

So as I was pushing the cart around Target I would say, “Can you say Happy Mother’s Day?”
Connor would respond, “Happy Mommy’s Day.”
We kept this up several times and even kept saying it as we walked out to the car.

I was thrilled that he was able to pick this up and say it so clearly.

This all happened on Tuesday night…flash forward to lunch time on Friday.

I get this text message from Victoria:
“Connor said something to me today. He said, ‘Happy Mommy’s Day!’ I am so surprised!”

So, it was a little bit early but I think Mommy was quite surprised and pleased that her son was able to tell her that.

So Victoria, Happy (early) Mommy’s Day and here’s to you having many more with both of your boys!!!!

Love,
Daddy/Donnie

Ultrasound

May 5th, 2010 by Donnie

We don’t have nearly as many ultrasound pics for Baby 2 as we did for Connor…I guess the Obama Healthcare plan is impacting how many pictures they can print out during an ultrasound.

Alright…this is the best looking one we had.  You can’t make out much but we were able to see some other good shots of the baby during the ultrasound.  At one point we clearly saw both legs (the femur…thigh bones).  He was all bunched up in a ball, head between is legs, one hand on his rear-end, and one kind of waving at us.  We even saw him move his mouth and open it a bit.  That was cool…we didn’t see that with Connor.

Here is the best picture we got:
