Christmas Eve in September…

September 10th, 2007 by Donnie

As a child (and even as an adult), I can remember having a very hard time falling asleep on Christmas Eve because I was so excited about seeing all the surprises under the Christmas tree the next morning.

Well, September 9th was a “Christmas Eve night” for me last night.  I tossed and turned last night anxiously awaiting the news today.  I woke up at 12:30am and thought it was time to get up — nope, only another 6.5 hours to go.  Finally 7am rolled around and we got up.

Now hopefully the little one will cooperate and the doctor will be able to tell us whether it is a boy or a girl.

We definitely have the girl’s name picked out, Amanda Louise Woodruff.

The boy’s name is pretty close to being finalized, but we may wait a little while longer before releasing it.  Maybe, I’ll charge a fee to see the boy’s name (I’ve got to start making money on this website so I can pay for diapers and college.)

Check back in about 2 hours and hopefully there will be some news.

Love ya guys!

Fun night sleeping last night…

September 10th, 2007 by Donnie

I did quite a bit of work around the house yesterday and must have been a little over-tired so I had one of my infamous nights sleeping. I woke Victoria and the baby (see his/her posting below) because I swore that there was a snake in the bed. Half of you are thinking — what is he talking about. The other half know about my “sleep issues”.

Spiders, snakes, ghosts, etc… have a tendency to cause sleep problems for me and Victoria (seeing I always wake her up). I’ve had them since I was a kid and they come and go — usually tied to me being overtired or eating something before heading to bed (at least that is what I tell my mother). The truth is ever since my Mom dressed up in a white sheet and jumped out of a closet at my Grandmother’s house when I was 5 or 6, I have never slept soundly. 😉

As far as the baby “complaining” about not getting any sleep. I am sure Victoria and I will have plenty of sleepless nights come January, February, March, etc…

After my 2am snake wake-up call we went back to bed. Sometime later that morning, I heard Victoria trying to get out of bed and I guess I still wasn’t sound asleep but was not fully awake. I got up and helped her out of bed. Then I helped her into the bathroom. We walked slowly to the bathroom with me holding her tight so she would not fall. You would have thought she was 9 months pregnant and incapable of walking by the way I was helping her into the bathroom.

We had a good laugh about it this evening when she reminded me of the snake and the bathroom visit.

Hoping for a good night sleep tonight…

Shhh, I am trying to sleep in here…

September 10th, 2007 by Baby Woodruff

For some reason at 2am this morning, Daddy woke up and sprung out of bed. Mommy and I did not know what to do.

Daddy told Mommy to get out of bed because there was a snake in the bed. Then Daddy ripped the covers off of the bed looking for the slithery creature. Nothing.

Mommy’s snoogle was still on the bed and Daddy turned his attention to it. He quickly grabbed it and slung it off the bed. Again, NOTHING.

By this point, Mommy realized what was going and started to calm Daddy down and told him it was OK and nothing was in the bed. Daddy said he was sorry and climbed back into bed (like nothing happened).

Dad — you think you can keep it down next time, I am trying to sleep in here. 😉

Half way…

September 9th, 2007 by Donnie

Victoria is at 20 weeks now and is half way there. She is definitely getting bigger and is at 115 lbs this week. The doctor said they will begin measuring her belly at our next visit in October.

We picked up the snoogle at Babies R Us for Victoria a few days ago and she loves it.  Between the baby and the snoogle, I think my days of snuggling with Victoria are over.  😉

36 hours and counting…

150-156 bpm

September 6th, 2007 by Donnie

Victoria and I went to the doctor for her monthly check-up and everything was fine.  Her blood pressure is excellent and her weight is up to 115 pounds now.

We heard the baby’s heartbeat again and the doctor said it is between 150 and 156 bpm.   Girl or boy?

Victoria worked at Banana Republic yesterday and said her feet were a little swollen.  They have returned to normal today and the doctor said that is normal.  Her wedding ring is getting a little tight as well, so she may need to remove it in the coming weeks.

We are anxiously waiting for Monday (the ultrasound).   I’ll try to get some new pics of the Mom to be shortly.

We have movement.

August 31st, 2007 by Donnie

Victoria felt the baby moving today.  We were having lunch at a Chili’s in Richmond (Short Pump Mall).

After having a turkey sandwich and fries, Victoria felt the baby move for the first time.  She says it was moving in a circular motion and felt weird.

2 weeks and counting…and time to name him/her

August 28th, 2007 by Donnie

We have less than two weeks until we return to the doctor for another ultrasound. We could possibly find out the sex of the baby on that visit.

I’ve been holding out on choosing a boy’s name but may have to decide soon. Victoria has “picked out” a boy’s name and is slowly trying to convince me to agree to it. Not yet, I’ll hold out a little while longer. She has told our immediate family and everyone agrees with her. I am not posting the name here because I don’t want to be bombarded with “oh that is a good name”, “that sounds great”, “I like that name”, etc… Then the next thing I know, I’ll see that name on the birth certificate without having any input.

Now I know if any men are reading this blog, they probably will just tell me I am along for the ride and to go with the flow. Nah…can’t do that. Our relationship has never been like that and I plan on providing some input on our child’s name.

That’s why I am leaning towards William Joseph Woodruff — “Billy Joe” for short!!!!

Gotcha! :-P

A few days in New Jersey

August 20th, 2007 by Victoria

Victoria and I are up in New Jersey  with my Mom, Danny, and Kristen to spend a few days with family.  We have been gathering advice and suggestions from Melissa (my cousin) who has a 7 yr old (Callie) and 2.5 yr old (Jack).  Sounds like the diaper genie is a no go based on her comments and others.

We will be here another 2 days and are enjoying the time away from work and the photography business.

If the weather cooperates, we might head into New York City on Tuesday, but it doesn’t look good now.
